Basics of Roof Replacement & Repair

We all lead busy lives these days and after working a long hard day, you drive home and as you push the garage door opener, you never think about looking up at your roof. For most people, the first time we think about roof replacement is when we see those little brown spots in our ceiling. You will think, well it is small, and it will be okay. Nothing could be further from the truth. By the time you notice those brown spots, water has had to find the broken shingle, get under it, bypass underlayment, then find a joint or just rot through your roof deck, drip down and soak your insulation and then wet the sheet rock several times before it finally shows up in your ceiling. If you don’t do something soon, you will have black mold start to form, your insulation will lose its R-value, and the roof deck rot will get bigger and more expensive to repair.

Basics of Roof Replacement & Repair

If your roof is fifteen years old or more and you notice brown spots in your ceiling, chances are you need to consider replacing your roof. Yes, repairs can be made, but those repairs are for only that area and chances are you will get more leaks in other areas of your roof soon. It will get very expensive to keep repeating this process, and when you do eventually replace the roof, those repaired areas will have to be torn off anyway.

Whittington Construction Company will guide you through the process of roof replacement and explain the process thoroughly. We also keep you informed throughout the project of any extra damage that might be found during the tear-off phase of the replacement. We install high quality Owens Corning Duration shingles, along with new drip edge, synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield in valleys and around chimneys, pipe boot and chimney flashings as well as new ridge vent materials. Most of all, we stand behind our work and offer a two-year workmanship warranty along with the standard manufacturer’s warranty on the shingles. Our customers often choose to upgrade to our Preferred warranty, to extend both the shingle and workmanship warranty to lifetime.

From the beginning of your roof replacement to the finished roof installation, we will advise you correctly about the work that needs to be done, and we will take care of your property the best we possibly can. It is our goal to leave your home looking like we were never there except for a new roof.
